Aufruhr

Aufruhr is the capital city of Wahrheim, located on the northeast coast. Flanked to the north by mountains and to the east by often icy ocean, Aufruhr is secure from siege outside of its own lands… though that has happened before.

Large and imposing, with many of its structures dating back to before human habitation began on Wahrheim, the city boasts an impressive outer wall and a massive inner keep where King Kronnan rules from. The third generation of his line to wear the crown, Kronnan Connson is descended from barbarian tribes from deep within the deep hills towards the center of Wahrheim, his grandfather having deposed the long line of powerful sorcerer-kings that had previously ruled the continent since ancient times. Much of Wahrheim has been quite pleased with his family’s rule, feeling that those who prefer fighting with steel and sinew more closely align with their own way of life than the powerful mages who previously held sovereignty over them.

Aufruhr sees a fair amount of trade, but its oft ice-laden ports, its single point of entry, and its position in one of the more wintry and inhospitable parts of the continent means that other port cities take the majority of large shipping operations. Aufruhr is more a place of diplomacy (or such as people know it on Wahrheim)… it is where people come to petition the king or one of his subordinates for the rights to land, title, or particular contracts for trade or raiding.
